Throughout Lent, we will be posting a new series of blogposts reflecting on three foundational texts of the Christian faith: the Apostles’ Creed, the Ten Commandments and the Lord’s Prayer. Each post will introduce a section of the text, exploring what it means, asking some questions to help us think it through further, and offering a short prayer. We hope that this series will be a good reminder of (or introduction to!) the fundamentals of what Christians believe, how we live, and how we pray. They would be suitable for any Christians to use as their devotional reading during Lent and you could even use the posts as a basis for some small-group Bible studies.
At Church Society we are often asked to recommend good resources for preparing someone for confirmation, and we plan to make these posts, together with an updated version of our Short Catechism, into a book which would fulfil that need.
We begin on February 14th, with Lee Gatiss taking us through the Apostles’ Creed; Ros Clarke is writing the posts on the Ten Commandments, and we conclude with Aled Seago’s reflections on the Lord’s Prayer, taking us through to Good Friday.
